What is Counselling?

When life gets tough and we feel lost, sad and powerless, it can be hard to know which way to turn. What do I do now?

It can also be hard to know who to talk to. Who's going to listen and not judge and will they even understand where I'm coming from?

Counselling provides a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space in which you can be truly heard and supported whilst exploring your innermost thoughts and feelings. It offers the time, space and freedom to just be, away from the fast pace and the demands of the outside world.

I believe that every one of us has the capacity to reach inside and seek our own answers but sometimes we need a helping hand to assist us on our journey. Counselling can hold out this hand of hope and understanding, providing a warm, honest and supportive relationship in which we can work together to help you to feel more empowered, more at peace with the world and more confident about bringing about the changes you want to make in your life. It is a journey of personal growth, understanding and awareness.

People embark on this journey for many different reasons. Sometimes we can clearly identify what has brought us into counselling and in other cases, we can't quite put our finger on it but we just can't seem to escape from the fact that we feel lost, overwhelmed or unfulfilled. There is no right or wrong reason for entering therapy - just a desire to take the first step towards turning things around in your life.
